Why the cover letter matters
Your documents show facts. Your cover letter connects them into a story: who you are, why you are travelling, how you will pay, and why you will return. A short, well-organised letter helps the officer say yes faster.
A structure you can follow
- Your details: name, passport number, nationality, current address
- Purpose of travel and exact dates
- Where you will stay and a brief itinerary
- How the trip is funded, with a reference to your bank statements
- Your job or business, and your ties to home
- A polite closing and a list of enclosed documents
Style tips
Keep it to one page. Use plain, formal language. Match every date and figure with your documents, because inconsistencies are the fastest way to lose credibility.
What to avoid
Do not copy a template word for word, do not exaggerate, and never include claims you cannot support with a document.
